Wellington College Bangkok Scholarships for 2027 Entry
Wellington College International School Bangkok proudly announces its 2027 Scholarships programme, awarding outstanding students in Academics, Sports, and Music with scholarships of up to 70% remission of tuition fees. These awards recognise truly exceptional talent, commitment, and potential across all categories.
Who Can Apply
We welcome applications from both current Wellington students and those from other schools in Thailand and overseas. A good level of English proficiency is required to fully access our rigorous academic curriculum.
What It Means to Be a Wellington Scholar
To be a Wellington Scholar is to embody the Wellington identity, engaging in both the specialised area of the scholarship and across school life generally. Scholars are expected to be:

Our Scholars set the standard for others. They are role models who bring ambition, creativity, and curiosity to every aspect of school life. Scholars benefit from exceptional teaching and meet regularly with the Master and the Head of Senior School to develop leadership, broaden their thinking, and refine their talents. Applicants should be able to demonstrate evidence of positive reports from the current school, along with good learning habits, organisation and motivation. All scholars must also show integrity and have respect for all staff and peers within school.
Academic Scholarships

Wellington is an academically selective school. All applicants are assessed and interviewed before being offered a place.
Academic Scholarships are available for students entering Year 9, Year 10, and Year 12.
Applicants should normally demonstrate:
- A mean Cognitive Ability Test (CAT) score of 118 or higher
- Excellent school reports and strong academic references from the current school
- A strong commitment to leadership within an academic context

Sports Scholarships

Wellington offers a limited number of Sports Scholarships, primarily in Golf, Swimming, and Football. Scholarships are available for students entering Year 7 and above. Applicants should currently compete at regional, national, or international level, and have the ability to balance academic study with training and competition. Our Director of Sports or specialist coaches review achievements, rankings, competition results, and training commitment.
Golf
Applicants should demonstrate the following scoring standards:
- Consistent tournament scoring under par or equivalent for age and course rating
- Strong performance in recognised competitive environments
- Evidence provided through official scorecards or tournament results
Students are expected to have the following competitive experience:
- Regular participation in national and/or international junior tournaments
- Experience competing against elite peer groups
- Participation in recognised tours or events, such as:
- Thailand junior golf tours
- National junior championships
- International junior tournaments
Rankings and results should follow these expectations:
- High placement or ranking within:
- Thailand junior or national tours
- Recognised international junior rankings (where applicable)
- Consistent top finishes are strongly valued
Swimming
Applicants should demonstrate the following standards:
- Consistent competitive times at or below benchmark standards for their age and event
- Strong performance in recognised competitive swimming environments
- Evidence provided through official meet results or time verification
Students are expected to have the following competitive experience:
- Regular participation in regional, national, and/or international junior swimming competitions
- Experience competing against elite peer groups
- Participation in recognised events, such as:
- Thailand National junior swimming championships (or home nation)
- International junior meets
- Age-group swimming Region or TAA Meets
Rankings and results should follow these expectations:
- High placement or ranking within:
- National junior swimming rankings
- Recognised international junior swimming rankings (where applicable)
- Consistent top finishes in key competitions are strongly valued
Football
The Football Scholarships are initially awarded to students in Under-9, Under-11 and Under-13 age groups and are directly supported and driven via our collaboration with Bangkok Galaxy Academy. Successful football scholars are expected to enrol in the Bangkok Galaxy Academy exclusively at the point of commencement of the scholarship, and for its duration.
Applicants should demonstrate the following current standards:
- Football must be the primary sport and focus
- Minimum of three years in a structured academy environment
- Proven participation in:
- Competitive matches
- Tournaments or leagues
- Evidence of consistent high-level performance, including as a key or contributing player within their team
- Understanding of their role and ability to impact team performance
- Strong record of discipline in school and sport, along with professional habits and behaviour, with no history of serious disciplinary issues
Music Scholarships

Wellington College Bangkok is proud to nurture a growing community of exceptional young musicians. Music Scholarships are available for students entering Year 7, Year 9, or Year 12.
Typical expectations for a music scholarship applicant include:
- Grade 8 or equivalent on the main instrument or voice
- Grade 5 Theory
- Strong performance experience
- Students entering Year 9 or Year 12 are normally expected to demonstrate competency on a second instrument (Grade 6 or above)
- Scholars should intend to pursue IGCSE or A Level Music as part of their academic pathway
The Application Process
- Submit your scholarship application and supporting documents.
- Attend a school tour, assessments, and interviews if required.
- Shortlisted candidates attend the final Assessment Day (see dates below).
External applicants should complete an online application via the website. Required materials include:
- One-page scholarship application letter addressed to The Master
- Recent school reports
- Referee details from current school and/or coach
- Required identification documents
- Payment of the THB 6,000 application fee
- Supporting documents such as certificates, portfolio, and video recordings may also be submitted online as appropriate

Music Applicants Must Specifically Submit
- ABRSM certificates or equivalent qualifications
- Performance records and musical achievements
- Evidence of ensemble participation or musical leadership
Golf Applicants Must Specifically Submit
- Completed Scholarship Application
- Academic records from the previous 1–2 years
- A detailed golf résumé, including tournament history, scores, courses played, and rankings (if applicable)
- Official scorecards or tournament results
- Optional supporting materials including coach references and swing videos
Swimming Applicants Must Specifically Submit
- Completed Swimming Scholarship Application
- Academic records from the previous 1–2 years
- A detailed swimming résumé including competition history, times, events and rankings
- Official meet results or time certifications
- Optional supporting materials including coach references, swim videos and photographs of awards
