Miss Palesa Gunn will join WCIB in 2019. She has previously worked as a Year 2 and Early Years teacher in London, working with the Middle Leadership Team and supporting whole-school improvements to English planning, teaching and assessing. Palesa has a degree in History from The University of York and a PGCE from Canterbury Christ Church.
Palesa acquired her love of teaching while volunteering in an orphanage school in Watamu, Kenya during her summer break as an undergraduate. Since then her teaching experience has been exclusively in London following the English National Curriculum. WCIB will be her first international school, and she is eagerly awaiting the experiences she will gain from being immersed in a new culture. Her favourite subject is English and she passionately believes that every child should leave school with a lifelong love of reading and the ability to effectively write in a variety of genres with their own authorial style.
“I will strive to ensure that every single child has the confidence and drive to work to their full potential in every lesson. I think that being a Wellington teacher is about nurturing scholarship, creativity and individuality so that pupils are ready for a university or career of their choice and a happy, fulfilled life.”
