After only two years of operation, Wellington College Bangkok has been authorised from its mother school in the UK to offer a small number of the very prestigious Wellington College Governors’ Scholarships to some of the most exceptional young talents in Thailand.
Founded by Queen Victoria in the 19th Century, Wellington College in Berkshire, England, is the UK’s most highly-regarded and successful co-educational boarding school; over the last decade, the College has opened truly outstanding branches, in Shanghai, Tianjin, Hangzhou and Bangkok.
An extensive and rigorous Scholars’ Selection Day was held in February, with the outcome that nine 13-year-olds from across the country have been granted membership of this life-changing programme. In this inaugural year, awards have been made for Academic and Musical Excellence, as well as for world-class promise in Golf and Swimming. The College’s extraordinary facilities are ideally set up to support the development of true scholarship; the individually-tailored programmes of study for Scholars will furnish these remarkable young people with every opportunity to succeed at the very highest levels of their areas of expertise.
Christopher Nicholls, Master of the College, said ‘I am delighted to see the abilities of our new Scholars. Wellington has a long history of supporting excellence. When we put a National Champion swimming Scholar with James Goddard, our former Olympian and Commonwealth gold-medal-winning Head of Swimming, and design a Scholarship Programme around them, what can’t be achieved?’
Wellington College Bangkok looks forward to welcoming more students to the scholarship programme in the future. To find out more about our scholarship opportunities, please contact our admissions team.
