James Cross will join Wellington College Bangkok with extensive international experience in Drama and Film education. 

He graduated from the University of Reading with a BA in Film, Theatre and Television, later completing a PGCE in Secondary Drama. He began his teaching career in Mexico City at The Edron Academy, where he worked for six years, holding roles including Head of Drama, Film and Theatre, Head of Key Stage 3, and Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award Coordinator. 

He has since taught in Bahrain and is currently working in Brazil at the British School of Brasília, where he teaches English and Drama and has introduced Drama into the Key Stage 3 curriculum while launching a new IGCSE Drama course. 

“Most people believe that my job is simply to teach you how to become an actor. Whilst I can certainly help with that if that is your ambition, Drama is so much more than that. To succeed in life, we must be able to communicate. Communication is about transmitting meaning, but what is often forgotten is that great communicators do not just talk—they listen. 

Furthermore, life confronts us with situations where we are forced to think critically, to analyse and to react appropriately. We expect to analyse novels, poetry and prose to extract meaning, and it is no different for plays and performances. Applying the skills you learn in Drama to other areas of your life allows you to reach your full potential, both as a person and as a professional.”
