Wellington Governors’ Scholarships for 2026 Entry

Wellington College International School Bangkok proudly delivered its 2026 Governors’ Scholarships, awarding outstanding students in Academics, Sports, and Music with scholarships of up to 70% remission of tuition fees. These awards recognise exceptional talent, commitment, and potential across all categories.

Applications for 2027 entry will open later this year.


Who Can Apply

We welcome applications from:

  • Current Wellington students
  • Students from other international schools in Thailand
  • Students from Thai schools seeking an outstanding international education

A high level of English proficiency is required to fully access our rigorous academic curriculum.

Academic Scholarships

Wellington College Bangkok Academic Scholarships

Wellington is an academically selective school. All applicants are assessed and interviewed before being offered a place.

Academic Scholarships are available for students entering Year 9, Year 10, and Year 12. Applicants should normally demonstrate a mean CAT score of 118 or higher, alongside excellent school reports and strong academic references.

Successful Academic Scholars take part in a bespoke programme including:

  • Personal development workshops
  • Public speaking coaching
  • Academic enrichment programmes
  • Specialist mentoring and extension activities

Sports Scholarships

Wellington College Bangkok Sports Scholarships

Wellington offers a limited number of Sports Scholarships, primarily in Golf, Swimming, and Tennis. However, exceptional athletes in any sport are encouraged to apply.

Scholarships are available for students entering Year 7 and above.

Applicants should currently compete at regional, national, or international level. Our Director of Sports or specialist coaches review achievements, rankings, competition results, and training commitment.

Sports Scholars play an important role in the Wellington community and are encouraged to contribute broadly to school life beyond sport.


Music Scholarships

Wellington College Bangkok Music Scholarships

Wellington College Bangkok is proud to nurture a growing community of exceptional young musicians.

Music Scholarships are available for students entering Year 7, Year 9, or Year 12.

Applicants should submit:

  • ABRSM certificates or equivalent qualifications
  • Performance records and musical achievements
  • Evidence of ensemble participation or musical leadership

Typical expectations include:

  • Grade 8 or equivalent on the main instrument or voice
  • Grade 5 Theory
  • Strong performance experience

Students entering Year 9 or Year 12 are normally expected to demonstrate competency on a second instrument (Grade 6 or above).

Scholars should intend to pursue IGCSE or A Level Music as part of their academic pathway.


The Application Process

  1. Submit your scholarship application and supporting documents
  2. Attend a school tour, assessments, and interviews if required
  3. Shortlisted candidates attend the Final Assessment Day – 31 January 2026

Application Requirements for External Applicants

1. Scholarship Application Letter

Applicants should submit a one-page letter outlining their experience and achievements relevant to their chosen scholarship category.

Examples may include:

  • Music examinations and performance achievements
  • Sporting competitions and results
  • Academic awards and accomplishments

Supporting documents such as certificates, portfolios, and recordings may also be included.

2. Online School Application

  • Recent school reports
  • Referee details from current school or coach
  • Required identification documents
  • Payment of the THB 6,000 application fee

Guidance for the Student Application Letter

Letters should be written by the student and addressed to The Master.

Students may wish to include:

  • Their educational journey
  • Academic and co-curricular achievements
  • Personal interests and passions
  • Reasons for applying for a Wellington scholarship
  • What they would contribute to the Wellington community
