He studied Design Technology with Secondary Education at Bangor University. Throughout his career, he has balanced technical expertise in advanced digital manufacturing with a deep appreciation for traditional craftsmanship. 

He returns to the Wellington family after leading the Design Faculty at British School Jakarta and previously heading the Design and Technology department at Wellington College International Shanghai. Prior to his international career, he spent twelve years teaching in London independent schools, where he served as both Head of Department and Housemaster. 

Across London and overseas, Richard has built and led highly successful departments with a strong focus on innovation, academic excellence, and outstanding student outcomes. He has extensive experience across all key stages, from introducing young learners to workshop fundamentals to guiding senior students through A Level Design Technology.
