Michelle graduated from the UCL Institute of Education (IOE), University College London, with an MA in Philosophy of Education. She also completed her PGCE at Goldsmiths, University of London, and holds Qualified Teacher Status. She earned a BA in Philosophy at Fu-Jen Catholic University in Taiwan. 

Her initial teaching role was at Beths Grammar School in the UK. In 2015, she moved to Bangkok to take up a role at Harrow International School Bangkok as Head of Mandarin. In 2018, she moved to Hong Kong to become Head of Chinese at Harrow International School Hong Kong, teaching students aged 5 to 18 and specialising in IGCSE and A Level courses. From 2022 to 2025, she taught Chinese at Taipei European School, where she gained experience teaching MYP and IBDP Chinese.

Cultural competence is central to my role as a language teacher. I integrate real-world contexts, authentic materials and co-curricular experiences to help students understand both the beauty and complexity of Chinese culture. 

Through activities such as cultural festivals, external competitions, debates and interdisciplinary projects, I aim to make language learning meaningful and memorable.”
