Supporting the Poppy Appeal: Remembrance and Service at Wellington

29 October 2026

For eight years, Wellington College Bangkok has worked alongside the Royal British Legion of Thailand to support the Poppy Appeal, raising over ฿170,000 for veterans and related causes in the UK and Thailand.

This partnership is part of our wider charitable work across a range of organisations. Working with the Poppy Appeal team helps our students understand the people and purpose behind fundraising, connecting their efforts with remembrance, gratitude and service to others.

From 2nd to 11th November, poppies and other Poppy Appeal items will be available at the Junior and Senior School Front Desks. We encourage students, parents and staff to support the appeal in school or at participating venues across Bangkok, and to wear a poppy as a symbol of remembrance.

Our students will also play an active role in this year’s commemorations. On 11th November, Year 12 and 13 representatives will attend the Annual Service of Remembrance in Kanchanaburi, organised by the Royal British Legion of Thailand. They will lay a wreath on behalf of our community, with one student reading the Kohima Epitaph.

Our Heads of College will represent Wellington at the British Embassy Service of Remembrance at the British Club on 8th November. Senior School students and staff will also gather for a Service of Remembrance in the Atrium on 11th November.

Together, these activities give our community the opportunity to reflect, remember and contribute. All funds collected through the school’s Poppy Appeal will go to the Royal British Legion of Thailand to support its work with veterans and related causes.
