Ms Alice McCarthy is an experienced and passionate teacher who loves teaching Year 4 at Wellington College. She joined the school in August 2021, bringing with her a wealth of experience from both the UK and international settings. Prior to her move to Thailand, she taught Year 5 and served as English Coordinator for Key Stages 1 and 2 at a leading international boarding school in Kenya. However, it is in Year 4 where she has found her true passion, having taught this year group extensively and led Key Stage 2 as Phase Head for several years. Now stepping into the role of Assistant Head of Junior School, Ms McCarthy continues to teach Year 4 while supporting ongoing wider school priorities such as culture development, wellbeing and pastoral care, and staff development. She read English and Education Studies at Bath Spa University, where she also completed her PGCE. Her career spans both state and independent schools in the UK, and she remains committed to fostering a love of reading and writing in all her students. Ms McCarthy is also passionate about the link between student wellbeing, engagement, and academic success.
