It offers an international education from the Early Years through to secondary school and follows the International Baccalaureate pathway in its senior years.  Ascot may suit families specifically looking for an IB education in eastern Bangkok. Its location can also be convenient for those living closer to Ramkhamhaeng, Saphan Sung, or the northern side of Krungthep Kreetha.

Brighton College Bangkok

Brighton College Bangkok is another heritage British school located directly within the Krungthep Kreetha area. It provides education from the Early Years through to Sixth Form, following a British curriculum leading to IGCSEs and A Levels.  The school operates in partnership with Brighton College in the UK and has a modern, purpose-built campus with academic, sporting, and performing arts facilities. Its location makes it one of the most direct alternatives for families comparing premium British schools in Krungthep Kreetha.

Bromsgrove International School Thailand

Bromsgrove International School Thailand is located further east, with campuses in the Ramkhamhaeng and Min Buri areas. Although the journey will be longer from some parts of Krungthep Kreetha, it remains a practical option for families living towards Saphan Sung, Min Buri, or the eastern side of Bangkok.  The school follows the English National Curriculum, with students progressing to IGCSEs and A Levels. It offers both day and boarding provision, making it relatively unusual within Bangkok’s international school market. Its Windsor Park campus is set within a golf course environment and provides extensive space for sport and outdoor activities.

Heathfield International School

Heathfield International School is located on Ramkhamhaeng Road in Saphan Sung, close to several residential areas connected to Krungthep Kreetha. It is a British international school offering education from the Early Years into the Senior School.  Heathfield is smaller than some of the premium schools in the immediate area and may appeal to families looking for a more compact school community. Its British curriculum and location make it another option worth considering for families who want to remain within eastern Bangkok.

Ruamrudee International School

Ruamrudee International School, usually known as RIS, is an established American-curriculum school in Min Buri. Founded in 1957, it offers education from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 and is one of Bangkok’s longest-established international schools.  RIS provides a different pathway from the British schools clustered around Krungthep Kreetha, making it particularly relevant for families seeking an American-style education. Its main campus is further from central Krungthep Kreetha than Wellington, Brighton, Ascot, or Heathfield, so families should test the journey at normal school travel times.

How Near Is ‘Near’ in Bangkok?

Distance alone can be misleading when comparing schools in Bangkok. A school that appears close on a map may involve a difficult journey during the morning rush hour, while another slightly further away may be easier to reach because of its road connections.

Families should test the school journey on a normal weekday, ideally at the time they would actually travel. It is also worth asking about school transport routes, drop-off arrangements, siblings’ finishing times, and the effect of after-school activities on the return journey. For younger children in particular, a shorter and more predictable commute can make a considerable difference to the school day.

Choosing the Right School

The strongest local choice will depend on the child and the family. Wellington and Brighton are the two most prominent full British schools situated directly within Krungthep Kreetha, while Ascot provides access to an IB pathway nearby. Heathfield offers another British option on the Ramkhamhaeng side of the area, and families willing to travel further east can also consider RIS or Bromsgrove.

Before making a decision, families should look at all aspects of the school, not just facilities and headline results. Visiting each campus provides a much clearer sense of its atmosphere, teaching approach, pastoral care, and expectations. It also allows parents to consider the question that matters most: whether their child is likely to feel known, supported, and able to thrive there.
