Performing Arts | Music and Drama at Wellington College International School Bangkok
The Performing Arts Department brings together the teaching of music, drama, dance, and theatre, providing students with rich opportunities to explore creativity, expression, and performance.
Our goal is to offer strong interconnectivity between all three art forms, helping pupils become more confident, communicative, and creatively minded individuals, with a deeper understanding of themselves and the human condition.
Music
Follow the sounds of violins, drums, or saxophones and you will find the Music Department — in the Theatre, a Learning Studio, or even the outdoor play areas. Music is everywhere at Wellington.
We are passionate in our belief that all pupils should have access to a creative and challenging Music curriculum through which they develop a lifelong enjoyment of music and performance.
All students from Pre-Nursery to Senior School are taught by talented and dedicated Music Specialists who tailor lessons to individual needs and interests. From Key Stage 1 onwards, Music is taught not only through classroom lessons but also through a wide range of Enrichment activities, allowing students to explore different musical styles, perform in ensembles, and refine their skills.
Our inspirational teachers enable children to develop musical independence and ignite a lifelong love of music. All pupils learn to play an instrument within class, with additional opportunities to extend their learning through our team of specialist instrumental teachers offering lessons across a wide range of instruments.
The Music Curriculum develops students’ listening, composition, theory, and performance skills. Expanding facilities — including practice rooms and a brand-new professional theatre — provide space for creativity to flourish. Concerts, productions, and recitals form an exciting and regular part of our musical calendar.
Drama
From Early Years onwards, every Wellingtonian is involved in our imaginative and dynamic Drama and Theatre Programme, designed to inspire creativity and nurture artistic potential. Our aim is to give every student a lifelong love of the Arts.
Students pursue their dramatic interests both within the curriculum and through an expanding programme of performances and events, offering frequent opportunities to showcase learning and talent.

Drama opportunities extend beyond the stage. Students can also engage in lighting design, sound production, stage management, and backstage roles. Everyone is encouraged to participate and experience the joy of dramatic expression.
Our impressive 600-seat Theatre hosts large-scale productions, while the more intimate 80-seat Atelier Theatre offers a sophisticated alternative performance space. The Junior School Arts Learning Studio provides a warm and flexible venue that has already hosted many memorable performances.
